SECTION II: OBJECT OF THE CONTRACT

Purchase of in vessel composting plant for the treatment of kitchen and
organic wastes.
II.1.6) Description/object of the contract: Suppliers of invessel
composting plant are invited to provide Magherafelt District Council with
sufficient information, as detailed in the application form, to enable
Magherafelt District Council to purchase plant for the treatment of mixed
organic and kitchen waste arising from Kerbside collection schemes.
Suppliers will be required to provide information on how their proposed
plant will meet the requirements of the animal by products regulations
(northern Ireland) 2003.

II.2) Quantity or scope of the contract
II.2.1) Total quantity or scope: Magherafelt district council are
currently collecting source separated kitchen and organic wastes from
households within the council area. It is estimated that approximately 2
300 tonnes will be collected per annum. However, the proposed capacity of
the plant will need to allow for seasonal variations with considerable
peaks in the volumes of material collected occuring over the summer
months. In this regard it is expected that peak will approach 70 tonnes
per week.
