II.1.6) Description/object of the contract: The Trust is seeking to
secure the appointment of a creative multi-disciplinary team of health
care planning and design consultants.
The commission/s will be for the production of an exemplar design stating
the outline design proposals and building and engineering specifications
for the replacement of existing surgical services into a new building at
Taunton and Somerset Hospital. The challenge for the team is to achieve
design solutions which reflect the proposed service delivery models for
clinical care and the Trust"s quality goals whilst recognising the need
for flexibility to reflect the pace of healthcare change. Design teams
shall comprise of architect, health care planner, structural and services
engineers and planning supervisor. The quantity surveyor will be a
The design team may at the discretion of the Trust be required to further
develop the design solution to provide room data sheets, equipment
schedules and a comprehensive building specification to form part of the
PFI ITN documents.

Tenders may be submitted for one lot.

is a possibility that the design team appointed may be required to
provide further advice to the Trust into the procurement process of the
overall surgical centre project.
